The Forresters is a family-run pub welcoming everyone, including children and dogs (dogs are allowed throughout the building)
We have a French à la carte restaurant with an authentic ambience—serving dishes such as Beef Bourguignon, Magret de Canard, Cheese Soufflé, King Scallops and French-style pastries; book at https://forresters-bar-restaurant-with-rooms.resos.com/booking (restaurant closed Sunday nights, Mondays and Tuesdays).
The bar offers bar meals, local real ales, lagers, ciders (including French cidre), spirits, and a wide selection of wines and sparkling wines by the glass.
Facilities include a Games Room with pool tables, foosball and an arcade machine (available for private hire) and a self-service dog wash.
We have seven en-suite rooms above the bar and restaurant (may be noisy on busy nights); rates are Singles from £70, Doubles from £80 and Twins from £90 per night, with discounts for stays of more than one consecutive night; rooms include tea/coffee facilities, TV and free Wi‑Fi.
The Forresters is a few miles from Barnard Castle and the A66 (accessible via Scotch Corner/A1), close to Durham and the Lake District, and near the Pennine Way, High Force waterfall, Raby Castle, the Bowes Museum and many local walks and cycle routes.
